This Sunday (3pm start) the Mildenhall ‘Fen Tigers’, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery, will be looking to build on Wednesday evenings promising draw at Leicester when they welcome the Eastbourne Seagulls to West Row.

The Seagulls are led by Jake Knight who is well known in East Anglian Speedway circles from his time with King’s Lynn, and also feature ex Fen Tigers Danno Verge, Nick Laurence and one time Fen Tiger Cub Connor King. Their star reserve Nathan Ablitt was the Fen Tiger who never was, signing for Mildenhall in 2020 before the season was aborted, he shone brightly in the recent British U21 Semi Final recently at Mildenhall finishing in third place with twelve points.

The Fen Tigers will be at full strength with recent signing Luke Muff fit after his crash at Leicester that saw him withdraw from the meeting. Muff along with Sam Hagon will both be making their home league debuts for the Fen Tigers.

Gates will open at 1.30pm with a special opening of the newly named ‘Danny Ayres Stand at 2.30pm. This will be followed by the parade at 2.40pm and first race at 3pm. Supporters are reminded that all covid protocols that were in place for the British U21 semi final will remain in place for this meeting and the meeting versus Berwick on Sunday 4th July.

Speaking ahead of the meeting Malcom Vasey said “Following a very promising opening result away at Leicester we must now start what needs to be an unbeaten season at home. Eastbourne are a decent side with some dangerous opposition amongst their ranks, especially their number one Jake Knight and the exciting Nathan Ablitt.

The lads will need to be at their best from the start and put our visitors to the sword from the opening races. I saw a strong mentality and great team spirit led by Jordan on Wednesday and with that same attitude on Sunday I am confident we can come away with the points. With Newcastle sadly withdrawing from the league we are down to 12 meetings in this league season so we certainly can’t afford any slip ups”.
