After the travails of the past two years, it’s great news that the National Development League [NDL] division in British Speedway is restoring its two big one off championship events to the calendar, with the Pairs and individual Riders’ Championship returning to the fixtures list for the first time since 2019.
Riders from the Mildenhall Fen Tigers, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery, will have added incentives to get themselves in top form during this season where the West Row-based club will be looking to defend their hard-won NDL title and adding these extra pieces of silverware to the club’s trophy cabinet.
First up will be the NDL Pairs event which will be held at Leicester Speedway on Saturday 20th. August – 7.00pm start time. The Pairs event dates back to 2004 and has been won by a Mildenhall duo once, back in 2012.
The NDL Riders’ Championship is the individual event for the top riders from each of the division’s eight clubs and this will be staged at Scunthorpe Speedway on Sunday 25th. September with a 3.00pm start time. The third tier individual championship event dates back to 1994 and the title has been taken by a Fen Tigers’ rider once, in 2014.
