The 2019 Mildenhall Fen Tigers proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery open their season with a challenge fixture against a ‘Poultec’ select side this Sunday 21st April at 3pm.

Polutec Training is a private training provider of Apprenticeships, Traineeships, Study Programmes and Vocational courses. Well known in speedway circles Poultec has proved very successful in supporting the development of young speedway riders, not only do they learn and develop the basics of speedway but are advised in many other important supporting ways and life skills. The Fen Tigers have benefited from their work recently with the likes of Connor Mountain, Drew Kemp and Sam
 Bebee.

Mildenhall will sadly start their season without Sam Bebee who damaged his back in an accident over the weekend and will miss the opening months of the season. Whilst the club search for an alternative they will operate rider replacement for Bebee on Sunday and on the Isle of Wight and Plymouth in next weeks opening National Trophy fixtures. Supporters will however have the opportunity to see five debutants in the Fen Tigers colours on Sunday whilst Poultec will be led by Tom Brennan and Anders Rowe who both are doubling up for the first time in the Championship. Another familiar face to home supporters will be Alex Spooner of the Kent Kings.

As well as the main event supporters will have the chance to see their number eight Sam Norris in action in a six heat second half with 125cc and 500cc races. Easter eggs will be handed out to children at the supporter’s club table and at 1.45pm supporters will have a chance to meet new signing Jason Edwards outside the pits. Rider postcards will be available for fans as well as the chance to have photographs taken with Jason. The gates will open this season at 1.15pm.

New Team Manager Malcolm Vasey said “On Sunday we face an exciting young team from Poultec, with Tom Brennan and Anders Rowe providing top end fire power and the rest of the side are all riders ready to blossom in 2019. I expect us to win this and despatch a warning that at West Row the fire is still burning from last season but we will not be taking things lightly and the riders will be fully aware that we need to turn West Row into a fortress from day one.

We are sad to be without Sam (Bebee) and send him our very best wishes for a speedy recovery, he was looking very good before his most unfortunate and unlucky accident.

With second half racing to enjoy as well as the main meeting this should be a perfect start to the season for supporters to enjoy and hopefully a big noisy crowd will be there to cheer the team on”
