The Mildenhall Fen Tigers proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery travel to the Paul Chapman and Sons arena this Sunday (4pm start) to face the Leicester Lion Cubs in the 1st leg of their KO Cup tie.

The Fen Tigers travel in good heart following last Sunday’s demolition of Plymouth and a fine performance in their opening NL fixture at Cradley where the Fen Tigers led until the final race. Leicester, meanwhile, were hoping to start their season at Plymouth this evening, but that meeting fell foul of the weather so Sunday’s meeting will be their first competitive fixture of 2019.

Mildenhall have changed their middle order ahead of this fixture as the seek the perfect winning combination with David Wallinger moving to three, Charlie Brooks to four and Jason Edwards to five. The Lion Cubs have a strong top three with Ellis Perks, Danyon Hume and ex Fen Tiger Luke Ruddick, they also have the talented youngsters the Thompson twins to contend with, but team manager Malcolm Vasey feels his team can produce the goods once again – he said “This will be a very interesting meeting, Leicester have put together a good side and we will need to be at the top of our game. This is however a two-legged tie and although we will be all out to win on Sunday, we are conscious of the need to keep the tie close ahead of the second leg at Mildenhall and I will be looking for the riders to ride with spirit, skill and good race management.

We have decided following our first two away matches to move the riders in the middle order in an attempt to find the best combination and to hopefully get those all important extra points that will see us turn good performances into away victories”
