After another rain off at Plymouth this Friday, the Mildenhall Fen Tigers proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery welcome in fellow Play Off hopefuls the Kent Kings to Mildenhall Stadium on Sunday (3pm start).
The Kings have already won at the home of the Fen Tigers this season, by one point in the National Trophy, but the Fen Tigers have improved considerably since then and are now a much different proposition as last week’s backs to the wall victory over the Isle of Wight proved. The Fen Tigers will be without British U19 Championship runner up Jason Edwards who is on a three day tour with his Championship club and draft in ex Fen Tigers captain Connor Coles, whilst Danny Ayres injury replacement Ryan Kinsley makes his return to the Fen Tigers line up. Henry Atkins hurt his wrist during the British U19 Championship Final at Redcar but is hopeful of being fit to ride.
Kent have problems of their own with Alex Spooner, Rob Ledwith and Nathan Ablitt all currently missing from their line-up and Drew Kemp away with his Championship side Sheffield. Joe Lawlor guests for Kemp with rider replacement being utilized for Rob Ledwith. At reserve the Kings bring in Jacob Clouting and unattached Luke Barnes.
Team Manager Malcolm Vasey is looking for a similar effort to last Sunday from his charges – he said – “I thought last Sunday’s performance was very special, the strength of character shown by the lads after Danny’s unfortunate injury was something to behold and we need to continue with this spirit on Sunday against Kent. We will miss Jason but have a good replacement in Connor Coles who knows Mildenhall very well and a win will take us to within two points of second placed Kent with two meetings in hand.
It was disappointing to again lose the Plymouth away fixture to the weather, as this is a fixture we are targeting after our victory there earlier in the National Trophy. We hope to have news on a new date early next week”
