It’s a massive weekend ahead for the Mildenhall Fen Tigers, proudly sponsored by Manchetts Rescue and Recovery, as they look to remain in the play off shake up.
Defeat for Cradley at Belle Vue certainly didn’t harm the Fen Tigers chances, but a fine win by the Isle of Wight versus Leicester put them back in the mix. The Fen Tigers welcome back Charlie Brooks for Sunday’s fixture and certainly missed the Diss flyer at Kent where the Fen Tigers put in a well below par performance.
Belle Vue have an exciting top five led by star British youngsters Leon Flint, Kyle Bickley and Jordan Palin. Add in the experience of Danny Phillips and Brit/Aussie Connor Bailey who has already added in excess of five and a half points to his average and the Fen Tigers know they are in for a battle on Sunday (3pm start).
Team Manager Malcolm Vasey was under no illusions of the task – he said “Monday at Kent was a low point in the season for me, I was particularly unhappy with our performance with only Ryan and Jason riding up to expectations. I truly expected something from the meeting, but certainly not the battering we took!
But Monday’s result doesn’t change the fact that we must win our last two home meetings starting this Sunday against a very good Belle Vue team to stand a good chance of making the play offs. I am very pleased to have Charlie back he has been excellent at home for us and the increase in his average back that’s up. After Sunday we head to the return fixture at Belle Vue on Monday evening and a good win on Sunday will certainly be a big encouragement to us”
